Our workshop has a dedicated bay set aside for electric vehicles with a charging point, and we also have two charging points outside the workshop which our customers are welcome to take advantage of free of charge.
EV repairs and servicing is still a relatively new and rapidly developing sector and it’s important for us to be at the forefront of this so that we can continue to offer all our customers the best possible service. We undertake regular training courses and have Level 3 IMI-qualified EV technicians on our team and are members of HEVRA – a national network of specialist electric and hybrid vehicle garages across the UK – who audit us regularly to ensure that we’re maintaining high standards of work and safety.

How far you can drive before you have to recharge your electric car will depend very much on the manufacturer and the model as the range does vary considerably.
On average it takes about 8 hours to fully charge an electric car from empty to full depending on the size of your battery and the speed of the charging point, but most people find it convenient to use top-up charges to keep their car on the go. It’s definitely worth having a charging point installed at home and there are various types about which we’ll be happy to advise you.
Even though batteries do deteriorate with age, you’ll have to drive a lot of miles before you notice any drop in performance. Most electric car batteries will last at least 10 years, with some lasting up to 20 years by which time you may well have moved onto another car.
There are several benefits to driving an electric car; as well as the obvious reduction in environmental pollution, there’s a significant reduction in noise pollution too with electric cars producing a much quieter ride. As there are far fewer components in an electric car engine, there’s less chance of things going wrong which tends to mean less money spent on repairs. And even with energy prices up, running an electric car is still cheaper than a traditional petrol or diesel vehicle.
